Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series is expected to offer a host of improvements over the previous generation, and recent leaks have already begun to clarify some of these developments. However, internal code in One UI 8.5 has revealed a major upgrade that has been awaited for years.

According to what was monitored by the Android Authority website, a mention of a new mode called “Very Fast Wireless Charging” appears inside the code. This is an option not found in the Galaxy S25 series, which supports only two modes: regular wireless charging, which ranges between 5 and 10 watts, and “Fast” mode, which provides speeds of up to 15 watts.

It is expected that the “Very Fast Wireless Charging” mode in the Galaxy S26 phones will allow reaching a charging speed of up to 25 watts, thus complying with the Qi 2.2 standard.

Previous reports have pointed to this possibility, making it a significant upgrade over the S25 series which has been limited to 15W for years. Recent information also indicates that upcoming devices may get built-in magnets to support magnetic wireless charging, in a similar way to MagSafe in Apple devices and Google’s Pixelsnap.

However, the 25W wireless speed may be limited to the Galaxy S26 Ultra only, while the regular and Plus versions may get 20W speeds or may remain at the traditional 15W limit as in previous versions.

Speaking of the Ultra version, it is also expected to get an upgrade in wired charging speed, as recent reports indicate that it supports 60-watt fast charging under the upgraded Super Fast Charging 2.0 label.
