The countdown continues for the awaited match between the Zamalek and Pyramids teams next Sunday, which comes within the 20th round of the Egyptian Premier League championship for the 2025-2026 season.
The referees committee chose 3 names to manage the Zamalek and Pyramids match
A source revealed to Cairo 24, behind the scenes of what is going on inside Referees Committee The head office of the Football Association, regarding the team of referees that will be appointed to manage the match between Zamalek and Pyramids.
The source explained that the referees’ committee is currently choosing between the trio Mahmoud Naji, Mustafa Al-Shahdi, and Hamada Al-Qalawi. To choose one of them to manage the Zamalek and Pyramids league match.
The source indicated that some other names of the referees have become outside the accounts of the referees’ committee for the Zamalek and Pyramids match for various reasons, as international referee Amin Omar is currently absent outside Egypt due to his presence in the FIFA camp for referees nominated to participate in the 2026 World Cup.
International referee Mohamed Maarouf is far from being nominated to manage this match because he managed the Pyramids-Ceramica match in the 18th round, in addition to having some reservations about assigning that match to him due to previous objections expressed by Zamalek and Pyramids towards his performance in some of their matches.
Likewise, young international referee Mohamed Al-Ghazi is outside the nominations for the Zamalek and Pyramids match due to his management of Zamalek’s last match against Zed, while young international referee Mahmoud Wafa also moved away from the list of candidates to manage the match due to his management of Pyramids’ last match against Ghazl El Mahalla in the 19th round of the Premier League championship.
