Engineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held discussions with Engineer Salem bin Nasser Al-Awfi, Omani Minister of Energy and Minerals, in the presence of the heads of Petrojet and Enppi companies and the Undersecretary for Projects. This came on the sidelines of the Green Hydrogen Summit in the Sultanate of Oman.

The Minister of Petroleum discusses with his Omani counterpart increasing the volume of Egyptian companies’ business in the Omani market

The discussions dealt with enhancing cooperation in the fields of petroleum and mining, and expanding the participation of Egyptian petroleum companies in infrastructure projects in the Sultanate.

During the discussions, Engineer Karim Badawy stressed the depth of the historical relations between the two countries and that Egypt is committed to deepening strategic cooperation with the Sultanate of Oman in the oil and gas sector, especially the participation of Egyptian oil companies in infrastructure projects in the Sultanate. He reviewed the capabilities of Egyptian companies in implementing such projects in many countries outside Egypt, pointing to the important role of Petrojet in successfully implementing energy infrastructure projects within the Sultanate of Oman and the partnerships it holds in order to expand in this field.

In this context, it was also discussed the opportunities for Egyptian companies to implement projects to deliver natural gas to homes in the Sultanate of Oman after prior registration with the Omani Tenders Board.

The two sides discussed the latest developments in the ongoing discussions between EGAS and Oman Oil Company for cooperation in the field of natural gas for the benefit of both countries, stressing the importance of exchanging experiences and holding training programs in various technical fields, as well as discussing extending cooperation to include the petrochemical industry and opportunities for cooperation in a number of ongoing projects in this sector.

The Minister also referred to investment opportunities and possible areas of cooperation in the field of mining in light of the memorandum of understanding that was signed this year between the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and the Omani Ministry of Energy and Minerals to enhance cooperation in this promising field, reviewing the development that the mining sector is currently witnessing in Egypt.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Engineer Karim Badawi thanked and appreciated his Omani counterpart, Engineer Salem Al-Awfi, for his role in supporting bilateral relations and Egyptian-Omani cooperation, extending an invitation to participate in the Egypt International Energy Conference and Exhibition (EGYPS 2026).
