Luxor Governorate recorded new records in tourist flow rates, as official reports revealed that the occupancy rates of floating hotels operating between Luxor and Aswan reached 95%, which is the highest rate in years, which heralds a warm winter season, economically and touristically.

Record numbers restore the glories of cultural tourism

The head of the Tourist Guides Syndicate in Luxor, Mustafa Rifai, confirmed to Cairo 24 that the floating hotels are currently witnessing the peak of their activity, as they are close to full occupancy, coinciding with the moderate weather and the beginning of the peak of the winter season.

He added that this boom is supported by intensive promotional efforts and recent archaeological discoveries on the western coast, such as the Asasif tombs, which have re-shed the global spotlight on Luxor as an unbeatable cultural destination.

The head of the Guides Syndicate explained that this level of occupancy reflects the sector’s complete recovery and foreign tourists’ confidence in the Egyptian tourist destination.

Europe and Asia are leading the recovery engine

He pointed out that the implications of the numbers indicate a great diversity in tourism export markets, with European markets (Germany, England, Spain) at the forefront, supported by a strong return of direct charter flights to Luxor International Airport.

Rifai noted that there is a noticeable increase in flows coming from Asian markets, especially China, which enhances the sustainability of demand throughout the season, noting that this momentum was not only reflected in hotels, but extended to include the recovery of bazaar traffic, tourist transportation, and restaurants, which creates a comprehensive economic movement in the governorate. This recovery is not a coincidence, but rather the result of strategic plans that included developing Nile marinas and raising the efficiency of floating hotels, as well as Egypt hosting specialized events to support this. Lively tourist style.

He concluded his speech by saying that expectations indicate that these high rates will continue until the end of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, which puts Luxor once again at the top of the global Nile tourism map.
