Netflix is trying Netflix is making it easier for subscribers to keep up with what people across the country are watching by presenting the top 10 movies, series or episodes at the top of its home page.
A new post from the company published today noted that the top ten row will be updated daily with the most popular titles within a subscriber’s country, and the position of the row will also change depending on how relevant the shows and movies in the list are to their interests.
Netflix also notes that subscribers can get a better sense of what’s trending by clicking on individual movie and TV show tabs to get top 10 lists for each category.
Netflix launches TOP10 feature
Netflix first began trialling the top 10 list and viewing options in the UK and Mexico last year. “For those who want to see what others are watching or what is trending in an area, this may make getting headlines easier,” he said.
The feature arrives at a time when Netflix is feeling the pressure of increased streaming competition as US user growth has slowed in recent years, at the same time as rights holders are pulling back on their own streaming services, such as NBCU’s Peacock and AT&T/WarnerMedia’s HBO Max.
The company hasn’t been completely transparent about its viewing metrics as numbers are only released when a show or movie breaks a milestone of some kind — like “The Witcher.” The company also rejects third-party estimates, like those provided by Nielsen, because it counts true viewership numbers.
The top 10 lists are now being published for users around the world, so you may not see yours yet. The images above are only samples, and are not the current top 10 lists in a particular market.
Note that Netflix will provide the top 10 most popular lists for Netflix subscribers starting today, and it will appear in a different design than other traditional rows of content on the streaming service to make it easier to distinguish between them and the other best ones.
