The US Central Command announced the implementation of five air strikes targeting multiple ISIS sites in various parts of Syria, during the period from January 27 to February 2, as part of ongoing efforts to prevent the return of the terrorist organization and ensure its permanent defeat.
The US Central Command explained, in a statement on Wednesday evening, that its forces were able to identify and destroy an ISIS communications site, a vital logistical node, in addition to weapons stores, using about 50 precision-guided munitions, launched from fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, and drones.
Coordination with coalition forces and partner forces
Commander of US Central Command, Admiral Brad Cooper, said that targeting these sites demonstrates our continued focus and determination to prevent the return of ISIS in Syria, stressing that coordination with coalition forces and partner forces aims to ensure the permanent defeat of the organization, making the United States, the region, and the world safer.
The statement indicated that American forces and partner forces launched Operation Falcon Eye in response to the attack that occurred last December 13 against American and Syrian forces in the Palmyra region, which resulted in the killing of two American soldiers and an American translator.
Centcom added that after nearly two months of targeted operations, more than 50 ISIS members were neutralized or arrested.
It also confirmed the killing of the organization’s leader, Bilal Hassan Al-Jassem, during a precise raid carried out in northwestern Syria on January 16, noting that he was directly linked to the person responsible for the December 13 attack.
