Engineer Yass Mohamed, First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and Supervisor of Occupational Safety and Health, Energy Efficiency and Climate, today made a surprise visit to the Cairo Petroleum Refining Company in Mostorod, as part of the surprise inspection visits to follow up on the companies’ performance in implementing the system of occupational safety and health and process safety.

He conducted a field tour of the company’s facilities, to follow up on occupational safety and health procedures, and to ensure compliance with operational safety standards, and the readiness of prevention and protection systems and emergency teams to deal with various scenarios. Fire engines were also tested to ensure their technical competence, readiness, and speed of response to emergency situations.
Chemist Tariq Abdel Latif, President of the Cairo Petroleum Refining Company, reviewed the company’s efforts in supporting the safety system and promoting a culture of safe work within production sites.
For his part, the First Undersecretary of the Ministry stressed during the visit the importance of continuing to develop the occupational safety and health system, raising the level of awareness among workers, and fully committing to implementing preventive measures, considering safety is an essential element for sustaining operation and achieving the highest rates of safe performance.
This visit comes within the framework of the Ministry’s interest in intensifying field follow-up and continuous evaluation of work sites, in support of implementing the best international practices for occupational safety and health and process safety.
