The Confrontation and Roaming Theater Project at the Ministry of Culture concluded its activities for the year 2025 in Gharbia Governorate, marking the end of a year full of activities and theatrical performances that numbered more than 235 show nights, benefiting nearly a million viewers in the various governorates of the Republic.
Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, Minister of Culture, confirmed that the Confrontation and Roaming Theater project embodies the state’s role in providing cultural and artistic services to all citizens throughout Egypt’s governorates, especially in villages and remote areas, in implementation of the concept of cultural justice and consolidating the value of theater as one of the most important tools of soft power and building awareness.
The Minister of Culture pointed out that the sixth phase witnessed, for the first time, fruitful cooperation between the ministry’s sectors, with the tour starting from Qena, Assiut, the Red Sea, North and South Sinai, and other governorates, through theatrical performances, book fairs, plastic arts exhibitions, and various artistic and cultural workshops.
The Theater of Confrontation and Roaming concludes its activity for the year 2025 in Gharbia Governorate after presenting more than 235 performances.
Artist Hisham Atwa said that the Theater of Confrontation and Wandering project is one of the most important cultural projects that aims to reach citizens in villages and remote areas with high-end artistic products, in implementation of the state’s strategy to spread cultural awareness and achieve cultural justice.
The final tour of the project in 2025 included a number of Delta governorates, including Sharkia, Kafr El-Sheikh, and Gharbia, where performances were presented in 17 “Hayat Karima” villages, in addition to two universities and 3 theatres, and the number of attendees during this tour reached more than 50,000 spectators.
For his part, director Mohamed Al-Sharqawi, director of the Confrontation and Roaming Theater Project, explained that the harvest of 2025 was distinguished, as nearly 300 nights of performances were carried out in 22 governorates, including 100 nights presented as part of integrated cultural events of theatrical performances, popular arts, artistic workshops, and book exhibitions, stressing that these numbers reflect the amount of effort expended and the extent of the great public demand for the performances.
Al-Sharqawi added that the project will continue to expand over the next year in the governorates, border areas, and villages most in need, which will contribute to consolidating the role of theater as a soft force and a means of building awareness and highlighting positive values in society.
