An American who threatened to kill Donald Trump and federal officials was convicted
According to the US Department of Justice, Shawn Monper, 33, faces two counts of threatening to assault and kill US officials and federal law enforcement officers, with the intent to intimidate and interfere with their work.
The case dates back to last year, when authorities linked Munber to a YouTube account bearing the name Mr Satan, through which he posted several comments that included direct calls for violence and the targeting of prominent political figures.
Among the statements attributed to him was his saying that we must start killing people, in reference to Trump, Elon Musk, and a number of officials appointed by Trump.
His posts also included more dangerous statements, including a direct threat to assassinate Trump, in addition to his talk about purchasing weapons, ammunition, and bulletproof vests on a regular basis since the election.
Authorities said Munber also obtained a permit to carry a concealed weapon in January 2025, shortly after Trump’s inauguration, raising concerns about the seriousness of his threats.
This case comes in light of the escalation of security concerns surrounding Trump, especially after he was previously subjected to two assassination attempts that sparked widespread controversy within the United States.
Munber is scheduled to appear in court again on August 12 for sentencing, where he may face a sentence of up to 10 years in prison for each charge, in addition to financial fines that may reach $250,000.
