The Meteorology Department said in its official statement: Most parts of the country are witnessing strong wind activity, which may cause sand and dust in some areas, leading to a decrease in horizontal visibility, especially in exposed areas.
The General Authority of Meteorology continued: Low and medium clouds will advance over various areas of Matrouh Governorate, accompanied by chances of rain of varying intensity, with the clouds gradually extending as time progresses to the rest of the northern coastal areas.
The concerned authorities warned citizens against standing under dilapidated roofs or billboards, due to the expected strong winds. They also advised allergy and sinus patients to wear masks when going out, to reduce the effect of dust raised in the air.
The General Authority of Meteorology said in an official statement that low and medium clouds are advancing on the northern coasts, accompanied by chances of rain of varying intensity, before gradually extending to the interior areas and being less intense, with noticeable wind activity in most areas, which may cause sand and dust in some areas.
Meteorology stated that today’s weather, Monday, January 12, is witnessing very cold weather during the early morning hours, tending to be moderate during the day in most governorates, with temperatures continuing to drop compared to previous days.
Regarding the expected weather phenomena, the Authority indicated the chances of moderate rain, which may be heavy and sometimes thundery, on areas of the northern coasts and northern Lower Egypt at intermittent intervals, and may be accompanied by hailstones in some areas.
There are also chances of light to moderate rain falling on parts of southern Lower Egypt, and light rain falling on areas of central Sinai and the canal cities, with the possibility of it extending in the evening to some areas of Greater Cairo by up to 20%.
Meteorology confirmed continued wind activity throughout, at speeds ranging between 40 and 55 kilometers per hour, which may lead to stirring up sand and dust in exposed areas, in addition to severe disruption to maritime navigation on the Mediterranean coast, where wave heights range between 3.5 and 5.5 metres.
Cairo recorded 19 for high and 11 for low, Alexandria 17 for high and 10 for low, Menoufia 18 for high and 10 for low, El Alamein 18 for high and 11 for low, Hurghada 23 for high and 13 for low, Sharm El-Sheikh 24 for high and 16 for low, and Sohag 21 for high and 8 for low. Aswan 25 for the great and 10 for the small, and New Valley 22 for the great and 6 for the small.
