
In a humanitarian gesture that reflects the university’s pioneering societal role, the College of Nursing, in cooperation with the Department of Pediatric Nursing, organized a special celebration in solidarity with child cancer fighters.
This came under the supervision of Dr. Abu Al-Hassan Abdel Mawjoud, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Hanan Al-Zabalawi Hassan, Dean of the College of Nursing, Dr. Sherine Al-Sayed Metwally, Vice President of the College for Community Service Affairs, and Dr. Sahar Sedqi Fahim, Head of the Department of Pediatric Nursing.
Dr. Tariq Ali explained that this event comes as an affirmation of the university’s commitment to its societal responsibility and providing full support to health issues of concern to Egyptian society, noting that the university is sparing no effort in harnessing all its capabilities to raise health awareness, especially with regard to childhood cancer, stressing that every child with cancer deserves the best possible medical and psychological care to ensure that they pass this difficult stage.
For her part, Dr. Hanan Al-Zabalawi Hassan confirmed that the celebration mainly aimed to raise community awareness about the importance of early detection of childhood cancer, and to provide psychological and moral support to child fighters and their families, which directly contributes to raising recovery rates. She also thanked all those in charge of the organization, stressing the vital role and fundamental pillar that the specialty “pediatric nursing” represents in the journey of treatment and recovery, as it combines medical competence and psychological containment of the child and his family throughout the period of confrontation with the disease.
