The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth revealed in a report today, Monday, the consequences of the crisis left by the decision of Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir to dismiss a number of officers against the backdrop of the investigation into the failures of October 7, 2023.
October 7 earthquake investigations
The newspaper said that only the Israeli occupation army imposed sanctions on it, while Netanyahu succeeded in escaping.
She pointed out that the tremor that the Israeli army went through yesterday began with a decision taken by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu immediately after October 7, contrary to the national interest and the feelings of the majority of the public, when he decided to prevent any investigation into the failures of the war.
Netanyahu not only prevented an investigation into his personal role, but also a real investigation into the performance of the army leadership.
When Chief of Staff Herzi Halevy wanted to subject the internal investigations to a committee headed by Defense Minister and former Chief of Staff Shaul Mofaz and a number of generals, Netanyahu completely rejected that.
The result of this refusal was a series of internal investigations within the military units themselves, without any real authority to punish or dismiss anyone, and thus the army conducted a war for two years while mountains of questions and poor performance remained hanging over the heads of its leaders.
At the conclusion of the report, the Hebrew newspaper said that of all those who participated in the failures of October 7 – the Prime Minister, the Minister of Defense, the Cabinet, the National Security Council, the Shin Bet, the Mossad, and the police – sanctions were imposed only on the army.
She added: Netanyahu succeeded in evading, when he decided to prevent the investigation into the failures of October 7, but Netanyahu’s responsibility for October 7 must be investigated, examined, and presented before an official investigation committee, and above all, before the court of public opinion.
