Engineer Adel Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Greater Cairo Sanitation Company, confirmed that the company has almost completed the necessary preparations to begin the trial operation of the expansions of the Mokattam lift station, and raise its capacity from 60 thousand cubic meters/day to 120 thousand cubic meters/day, at a total cost amounting to 250 million pounds.

During his inspection tour, Engineer Adel Hassan followed up on the construction of a sewage complex in the Old Cairo area, 1,200 mm in diameter and 1,500 meters long, at a cost of 100 million pounds. The project includes converting the expulsion line into a slope line, and converting the disposal of the shooting lift station, which has a capacity of 50 thousand cubic meters/day.

The head of sanitation in Greater Cairo also inspected the Al-Baraka treatment station with a design capacity of 550,000 cubic meters/day, which serves the areas of: Heliopolis, Al-Zaytoun, Al-Matareya, Ain Shams, Al-Amiriya, Nasr City, Al-Salam, and Al-Nahda, directing the need to raise the efficiency of the station’s green spaces, the Yellow Mountain Farm, and the sludge ponds, and to pay attention to the operational condition of the station to ensure the sustainability of the service and the efficiency of operational performance.

Engineer Adel Hassan concluded his tour by inspecting a sewage complex with a diameter of 800 mm, and the work of constructing a 1,000-meter incline line with a tunnel payment system in the 15th of May area in Shubra Al-Kheima, at a cost of 40 million pounds, in order to accommodate the disposals in the 15th of May area, and to serve the areas of Ibrahim Bey, the school complex, and New Hope in the East Shubra Al-Kheima neighborhood, stressing the necessity of completing the work according to the specified timetable.
