
Representative Mervat Al-Kassan, a member of the Plan and Budget Committee in the House of Representatives, said that the opening of the “Wami Fashion” factory for ready-made clothing and furnishings in the Suez Canal Economic Zone reflects the state’s serious approach towards supporting labor-intensive export industries, especially Textile sector And ready-made clothing, which is one of the basic pillars of supporting the national economy and increasing export earnings.
Al-Kasan added, in a statement to Sada El Balad, that this type of project contributes directly to deepening local manufacturing, reducing dependence on imports, as well as providing sustainable job opportunities, which is in line with the state’s priorities in achieving real and comprehensive economic growth.
The member of the Plan and Budget Committee confirmed that the Suez Canal Economic Zone has become a successful model for attracting quality investments, thanks to the advanced infrastructure it provides and competitive incentives, stressing the importance of continuing to support this promising sector within the general budget plans, because of its pivotal role in enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian product in global markets.
During his tour today in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, opened the “Wami Fashion” factory for ready-made clothing and furnishings, which comes within the scope of the industrial developer “Orascom Industrial Zones” in the industrial zone in Sokhna.
The Prime Minister stressed that the opening of this project comes within the framework of the state’s efforts to strengthen the textile and ready-made clothing sector and support industries capable of competing in global markets. It also reflects the role of this vital sector in supporting the national economy, increasing the volume of exports, and deepening local manufacturing, indicating that the state pays continuous attention to developing this vital sector, and encouraging projects capable of global competition and raising added value.
Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, explained that the zone has succeeded in attracting pioneering projects in the clothing and textiles sector, which strengthens Egyptian leadership and raises the volume of exports, noting that these labor-intensive projects provide sustainable job opportunities and support the system of supply chains and logistics services related to the sector.
Walid Gamal El-Din added that the Suez Canal Economic Zone continues to attract qualitative investments that deepen local manufacturing and meet the needs of the Egyptian market, in addition to expanding exports to regional and international markets, which contributes to raising the competitiveness of the national industry and reducing the import bill.
The Prime Minister listened to an explanation from Islam Al-Ashmawy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ready-made clothing company, who explained that the “Wami Fashion” factory specializes in the production of ready-made clothes and furnishings, and is built on an area of 2,559 square meters, with investments estimated at 2.5 million dollars, adding that the factory’s production capacity reaches 6,500 tons annually, and provides 140 direct job opportunities and 75 indirect job opportunities, pointing out that it is targeted to reach the size of employment to 650 workers by the middle of this year, through the implementation of several expansions, which contributes to strengthening labor-intensive projects and supporting direct and indirect employment.
