The sixth and final round of the group stage of the Cup begins today Confederationwhich is witnessing a special kind of struggle to qualify for the quarter-finals for the 2025-2026 season.
A burning competition in the Zamalek and Al-Masry group
The fourth group in the Confederation Cup, which includes Zamalek and Al-Masry, is the most heated in the sixth round, as the representatives of Egyptian football compete with Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa for the two places in the quarter-finals, after Zesco United officially bid farewell to the tournament.
Kaizer Chiefs occupies the top spot in Group D with 10 points, two points behind Zamalek, which is in second place with 8 points, while Al-Mesiri of Port Said comes in third place after collecting 7 points.
Zamalek will host Kaizer Chiefs at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium at six in the evening, while ZESCO United will host Al-Masry at the same time, but at the new Suez Stadium.
A draw against Zamalek is enough for Kaizer Chiefs to guarantee qualification and lead the group, while Zamalek needs a win, especially since any result other than a win could end their career early in the Confederation.
If Zamalek settles for a draw, it will need Al-Masry to lose, especially since the Port Said team’s victory means it is tied with Kaizer Chiefs with 10 points.
If Zamalek and Al-Masry win their matches, the Port Said team will be equal with Kaizer Chiefs in points with 10 points, and given the direct confrontations between the two teams are tied, goal difference will then be used, then goals scored, and the criterion of goals scored outside the ground will come after that, and a lottery may be resorted to if all criteria are equal.
