Mrs. “Noura’s” family lives in the Mallawi center in the governorate Minya A state of anxiety and anticipation, after her health condition deteriorated sharply following her infection with a rare disease that led to her entering intensive care and her complete dependence on ventilators, amid urgent appeals to provide life-saving treatment before it is too late.
A rare disease caused by a genetic mutation
The family said that Noura suffers from a rare disease resulting from a genetic mutation, which caused a gradual deterioration in her health condition, moving from difficulty in movement to losing the ability to use her feet and then her hands, until her condition recently reached a critical stage that required her to be confined in intensive care.
In exclusive statements to Cairo 24, her husband said:
“The beginning of the disease was her inability to move normally, then the symptoms began to gradually increase, and she suffered paralysis in the feet and then the hands, and now she is in intensive care on respirators, after the doctors told us that the cause is due to a rare genetic mutation.”
He added that doctors confirmed that treatment is available, but it is expensive beyond the family’s means, which put them in a race against time to save her life.
For his part, her brother explained that the cost of treatment is estimated at about 25 million pounds, an amount that the family is unable to afford, saying:
“We were unable to raise this amount, so we opened an official account under the supervision of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, in the hope of collecting the necessary donations to save my sister before it is too late.”
The family appealed to all concerned parties, charitable institutions, and people with compassionate hearts to quickly intervene and help provide the necessary treatment, especially since Mrs. Noura supports three children, who face the risk of losing their mother at any moment.
The family stressed that all they are asking for is a new chance at life, under harsh health and humanitarian conditions, calling for a helping hand to save the young mother before the call for help turns into a tragedy.
