The security services arrested the photographer involved in the “circus cub” incident in Giza, after he was accused of possessing a lion cub and using it to photograph citizens without obtaining the necessary permits, in violation of regulating laws.
A photographer who injured a young girl in the National Circus was released on bail of 20,000 pounds
The competent investigation authorities began investigating the photographer, before the Public Prosecution decided to release him on a bail of 20,000 pounds, pending the case, while investigations continue to be completed to fully uncover the circumstances of the incident.
The details of the incident go back to what the investigation authorities had previously conducted with Luba Al-Helou, against the backdrop of her accusation of renting a lion cub to a photographer inside the National Circus, which led to an unfortunate accident that resulted in the injury of a 3-year-old girl, while taking souvenir photos after the end of the show.
Investigations revealed that the photographer, who is not affiliated with the Artistic House of Popular and Performing Arts, rented the cub and exploited him to attract visitors, as he offered to take souvenir photos in exchange for sums of money, in clear violation of the regulatory procedures.
The headquarters of the Artistic House for Popular and Performing Arts in Giza witnessed the incident, when the girl was suddenly attacked by a lion during a filming session, which caused her injury, and she was transferred to receive the necessary treatment.
An informed source confirmed that the competent authorities are continuing their investigations to determine the availability of security requirements, and to hold accountable those responsible for the incident, whether those who allowed the animal to enter or those who exploited it illegally, stressing that the necessary legal measures will be taken to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
The incident raises questions about safety procedures inside performance venues, and the extent of compliance with the laws regulating the handling of animals, especially in places with a large presence of families and children.
