Mohamed Shalaby, a performance analyst and one of the eyewitnesses to the incident, said in exclusive statements to Cairo 24 that the events began after the end of the match with a draw and resort to penalty kicks, which decided the match in favor of Al-Ahly.
Shalaby explained that the Al-Ahly players’ celebration in front of the Sporting stands included inappropriate behavior by one of the players, which led to the outbreak of a clash between the players of the two teams on the field.
He added that the intervention of some parents in an attempt to break up the clash did not contribute to calming the situation, but rather increased the tension inside the hall.
