The all-new OnePlus 15R phone underwent teardown testing at the hands of the PBKreviews channel, becoming the company’s latest device to have its internal design revealed. The phone appears as a close twin to the flagship OnePlus 15 phone, both in terms of external design and disassembly steps, which bear a strong resemblance between the two devices.
Disassembly begins with the usual procedures, where the SIM tray is removed first, then the back glass cover is heated before carefully detaching it. Next is the rear camera module, which is held in place using four Phillips screws.
When delving deeper into the phone, an additional 17 screws are required to be removed to access the internal components. The battery cables are hidden under a layer of graphite and copper tape, while OnePlus facilitates the removal process by providing the battery with side pull tabs, which makes removing it smoother.
By disconnecting an additional number of flexible cables, the 32-megapixel selfie camera is freed, while only one screw is enough to disconnect the motherboard. As for removing the screen, it is more complicated, as it requires dismantling most of the remaining parts, including the bottom cover, the back panel, and the sub-panel, in addition to the screen cables.
In the end, the OnePlus 15R phone receives a high rating for ease of repair, scoring 8.5 out of 10, which reflects an internal design that takes care of maintenance and repair to a great extent.
