Dr. Tamer Salah Mokhtar, agent Ministry of Supply and Director of Supply Directorate Qalyubia held an expanded meeting with the leaders of the directorate and directors of sub-departments at the headquarters of the directorate’s general office, within the framework of tightening ration control and raising the degree of preparedness to receive the holy month of Ramadan.
The meeting reviewed the efforts to monitor subsidized catering activities and markets during the last period, in implementation of the directives of Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade.
Intensive food campaigns
The Undersecretary stressed the need to tighten control over the subsidized food commodities disbursed to citizens through ration cards, as well as follow up on petroleum products, and ensure the availability of food commodities and the stability of prices in the markets.
Follow bakeries and markets
The Undersecretary stressed the importance of following up on bakery operations, ensuring the movement of fortified flour, and producing local bread that conforms to the technical specifications approved by the Ministry, in addition to following up on mill work to ensure the production of high-quality local flour that suits the people of Qalyubia Governorate.
He also stressed the activation of direct communication channels with citizens, to ensure the speedy handling of any complaints or obstacles that may face the food supply system, stressing that there will be no tolerance towards any party or individual proven to be involved in price manipulation or illegal trade, while taking immediate and deterrent measures against violators.
He pointed out that maintaining market stability and providing citizens’ needs represents a national responsibility, stressing that the state’s prestige will be imposed by force of law, and that strict oversight and continuous coordination with the concerned authorities are the true guarantee of consumer protection.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Undersecretary affirmed the continuation of taking all measures to ensure the availability of food commodities in the markets, especially with the approaching holy month of Ramadan, indicating the readiness to prepare for the “Welcome Ramadan” exhibitions and one-day markets in coordination with the Chamber of Commerce and major producers and companies, with the aim of reducing trading circles and providing goods at appropriate prices to citizens.
