A new leak has confirmed the final details about the Sony WF-1000XM6 headphones before their global launch. With up to 8 hours of battery life and a new audio driver, Sony’s latest pair of wireless earbuds is also said to offer 25% better active noise cancellation (ANC) than the WF-1000XM5, with improved comfort too.

Sony will announce the WF-1000XM6 headphones in a few hours. Specifically, the company will introduce the successors to the much-anticipated WF-1000XM5 at 16:00 UTC. Based on previous releases, the WF-1000XM6 should be available to order shortly after Sony finishes broadcasting its live event. For reference, the company hinted that a new version of the WH-1000XM6 is also coming (currently priced at $398 on Amazon).

Meanwhile, MrWalkman and The Walkman Blog revealed more details about the WF-1000XM6 ahead of its official announcement. Sony will reportedly market its new pair of wireless earbuds as offering the best call quality in the company’s history and “world-class noise cancellation.” However, this data is only accurate as of December 1, 2025.

Meanwhile, the redesign of the earbuds is said to offer a body that is 11% thinner than the WF-1000XM5 which “avoids ear creases.” As a result, Sony believes the WF-1000XM6 will be more comfortable than its predecessor. Apparently this new design should also reduce wind noise while improving noise cancellation in the process.

Furthermore, the WF-1000XM6’s QN3e noise cancellation processor should provide 25% better active noise cancellation (ANC) than the WF-1000XM5. This is partly because the WF-1000XM6 has 4 MEMS microphones instead of the 3 found inside the WF-1000XM5. The pair, MrWalkman and The Walkman Blog, provided a first look at the WF-1000XM6’s sound engine as well, which we’ve included below. In total, the WF-1000XM6 is expected to last up to 8 hours between charges with active noise cancellation enabled.
