Obour City witnessed the implementation of a large field campaign to vaccinate free-range dogs, as part of the Rabies-Free Egypt 2030 initiative, to preserve public health and enhance environmental safety within the city.

The campaign came in implementation of the directives of Engineer Tamer Gabr, head of the Obour City Development Authority, to expand programs for safe and humane dealing with free-range dogs within the city, in a way that achieves environmental balance and limits any potential health risks to citizens. Under the supervision of the Development and Environment Department of the city authority, and in cooperation with the Directorate of Veterinary Medicine in Qalyubia, and with the active participation of animal welfare associations and civil society institutions, an organized field campaign was implemented to monitor and vaccinate free-range dogs, as the campaign targeted the first district.

It resulted in 130 free-range dogs being vaccinated with rabies serum during the tour, and Engineer Tamer Gabr confirmed that the Obour City Development Authority continues to implement these campaigns periodically, within an integrated preventive plan aimed at protecting citizens and preventing the spread of diseases, with full commitment to humanitarian standards in dealing with stray animals.

He pointed out that these efforts come within a sustainable vision and comprehensive plan to improve the level of environmental health in Obour City, and to establish civilized practices in dealing with free-range dogs, in line with the state’s directions and reflect the image of a healthy, safe, and environmentally friendly city.
