A fire broke out in processing equipment and a pipeline at the Slavyansk oil refinery in the Krasnodar region, southern Russia, after debris from a Ukrainian drone that was shot down overnight fell, local authorities reported Wednesday.

The authorities added that no human casualties were recorded at the refinery, which Kiev has repeatedly targeted since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine in 2022, according to Reuters.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Krasnodar Regional Operations Room said via the Telegram application that two people were injured, several private homes were damaged, and electricity supply networks were damaged, as a result of drone debris falling in other residential areas in the region.
The Krasnodar Territory, overlooking the Black Sea, is a major center for energy and exports in Russia, as it includes important oil infrastructure, including the port of Novorossiysk and nearby stations, in addition to the Topsy refinery and other export facilities.
Ukraine says its strikes on Russia’s energy infrastructure aim to disrupt fuel supplies to the Russian army and reduce revenues from oil exports that help finance Moscow’s war effort in Ukraine.
