The Ukrainian army confirmed that 5 missiles and 24 Russian drones managed to cause damage in 23 locations Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian energy company reported that the Russian attack on the capital, Kiev, led to the cutting off of electricity to more than 335,000 citizens.
Dr. Mahmoud Al-Afandi, an expert in Russian affairs, later confirmed: Russian military operations in Ukraine are witnessing a remarkable and unprecedented escalation, overcoming the harsh climate challenges of the winter, in a clear indication of a strategic shift in the course of the war.
Al-Afandi explained, during a television intervention on the Extra News channel, that the Russian forces were able during the past four years to achieve remarkable field progress, which translated into Moscow’s control over large areas of Ukrainian territory, which, according to his description, reflects a growing military and planning superiority.
The expert in Russian affairs pointed out that one of the most prominent reasons for this escalation is due to the state of weakness that the Ukrainian side is suffering from, especially at the level of human resources, revealing that official statements issued by the Ukrainian Minister of Defense spoke of the flight of nearly 400,000 soldiers from the battle fronts, which cast a heavy shadow on the army’s cohesion and morale.
He added that Russia relies extensively on targeting Ukrainian infrastructure, especially energy facilities, as part of a comprehensive pressure policy aimed at exhausting the Ukrainian state and pushing its political leadership, led by President Volodymyr Zelensky, to accept the option of military surrender or making strategic concessions.
