Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadiq, President of Cairo University, participated in the meeting of the United Nations peacekeeping and peacebuilding offices, which was held at the headquarters of the Attorney General’s Office, organized by the Judicial Inspection Department of the Public Prosecution, within the framework of supporting international peace and security efforts and strengthening international partnerships in the fields of justice and peacebuilding.

This meeting comes in a context that reflects the commitment of the Egyptian state and its national institutions to consolidating the principles of the rule of law, and actively engaging in international issues related to building sustainable peace, by enhancing cooperation with international and regional organizations, and exchanging experiences in facing contemporary challenges.

During his participation, the President of Cairo University stressed that universities represent an essential pillar in supporting peace paths, through their role in building awareness, promoting a culture of dialogue, and preparing cadres capable of dealing with global challenges, noting Cairo University’s keenness to expand the scope of its cooperation with international institutions in the fields of scientific research and capacity building.

He also pointed out the importance of integration between academic institutions and judicial and executive bodies, which contributes to establishing an integrated system that supports justice, enhances stability, and keeps pace with rapid developments, especially in light of the challenges associated with modern technology and artificial intelligence.

The meeting witnessed the presence of Elizabeth Spehiar, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations for Peace Support and Building, and Ambassador Amr El-Sherbiny, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral Affairs and International Security, along with a number of representatives of diplomatic missions and UN agencies.

Cairo University’s participation in this event confirms its keenness to strengthen its international role and engage in initiatives that support peace and development and contribute to building a more stable and just future.
