Lawyer Amira Hammam said that she received a call for help from an elderly woman residing in the Belbeis Center in Sharkia Governorate, accusing the widow of her deceased son of deceit to seize her children’s pension and leaving them without care.
A widow was accused of defrauding her children’s pension in Sharqia after marrying under common law and leaving them without spending
The lawyer explained in exclusive statements to Cairo 24 that the widow received her husband’s benefits following his death four years ago, and she extracted a pension in her capacity as guardian for her eight children, which is estimated at about 7,800 pounds per month, noting that she was married about three years ago under a common-law contract without disclosing that.
She added that her client accused the widow of continuing to pay the pension despite her marriage, not spending on the children, and leaving them in the care of their grandmother, considering that this represents a waste of the children’s rights and a deception of the law.
She indicated that a report was drawn up regarding the incident, No. 1091 of 2026, Belbeis Administrative Office, supported by statements from witnesses from the children’s family, including the eldest son and their uncle, who confirmed the validity of these accusations.
The lawyer confirmed that she had initiated the legal procedures in the incident, noting that investigations are still ongoing before the competent authorities to determine the circumstances of the incident and take the necessary legal measures.
