It was not just an ordinary kidnapping incident inside a crowded hospital in the heart of Cairo, but rather it was a complex plan, the details of which were written over many hours, and ended with a smart chase undertaken by the capital’s investigations, between thousands of cameras and dozens of ways to return a baby who had almost disappeared without a trace.

The full story from inside the hospital to the outskirts of Cairo

In Al-Hussein Hospital, the accused sat among the people with suspicious calm. She was not as strange as she seemed, but rather played a skillful role. She claimed that her sister was about to give birth and that she was in a dispute with her mother-in-law, and she exploited human sympathy to gain the trust of the newborn’s family.

She spent 3 full hours among them, talking, consoling, and waiting for the right moment, but the surprise was that this was not her first attempt. Investigations revealed that she had come to the hospital twice before, and she sat for 5 to 6 hours each time, watching and planning, but she failed, until she succeeded the third time.

An escape plan more like a movie

Once the crime was committed, she did not escape randomly, but rather carried out a complex route to mislead security. She started by taking a taxi from Al-Hussein to Mokattam, and moved inside Mokattam via tuk-tuk and minibuses.
It moved to Nasr City, then to various areas such as Al-Waha and Al-Mithaq Street, and from there to the bottom of Al-Futtaim Bridge, then to Suez Road, passing through the Mirage area, and continued the journey via “Suzuki vans” until Shorouk and then Badr. The total was 13 means of transportation, including 4 tuk-tuks, passing through 10 different squares, all in an attempt to break any security tracking.

The real battle was in the cameras

Here the real role of Cairo Investigations began. The research team did not rely on luck, but rather on technology and patience. It unloaded more than 5,000 cameras across Cairo, including only 122 cameras in the vicinity of the hospital. It carefully followed the route despite its constant changes, linking the scenes together to reach the final thread. Despite the complexity of the trip, the plan did not succeed in deceiving the security services.

Shocking confessions

During the investigations, the accused admitted her motives and said that she was seeking to have children under pressure from her husband, who threatened to divorce her if she did not give him a child. She also revealed that she was previously married and had two children, one 19 years old and the other 17 years old.

In the end, the complex plan failed before the insistence of the detectives, and the accused was located and the baby was returned to her family safely, turning the story from a potential tragedy into a new security success.

The case is not only related to a kidnapping crime, but rather reveals the danger of overconfidence in sensitive places, and the importance of awareness, in addition to confirming that technology and the security mind are capable of dismantling the most complex plans, even if they pass through 13 cars and 5,000 cameras.
