Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, received a phone call from Steve Witkoff, the US special envoy to the Middle East, today, Sunday, April 12, to find out the latest developments in the regional situation, following the negotiations held between the United States and Iran in Islamabad.

Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the American envoy informed Minister Abdel-Ati during the call about the American position during the negotiations, within the framework of close coordination and continuous consultation between Egypt and the United States.
Minister Abdel Aty stressed the importance of adhering to the diplomatic path and giving priority to the language of dialogue and peaceful solutions in order to reach consensus on all the concerns raised and maintain regional security and stability.
Witkoff appreciated the existing level of coordination with Egypt, praising the existing cooperation and Egypt’s efforts to support security and stability in the Middle East, and the American side’s reliance on the continuation of the Egyptian effort in this regard.
