Lenovo announced today the official opening of its regional headquarters for the Middle East, Turkey and Africa (META) region in Riyadh, in a move that represents an important strategic milestone within the company’s long-term investments in the Kingdom, and embodies its commitment to supporting the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

The opening took place during an official ceremony attended by His Excellency the Minister of Investment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Fahd bin Abduljalil Al Saif, along with a number of senior government officials, strategic partners, and Lenovo leaders.

Lenovo’s decision to establish its regional headquarters for the Middle East, Turkey and Africa in Riyadh reflects the strength of the partnership between the Kingdom and major international technology companies, and confirms the effectiveness of the Saudi program to attract regional headquarters for companies. Lenovo’s continued investments in advanced manufacturing, localizing supply chains, developing competencies, and strengthening its regional operations also reflect a firm confidence in the Kingdom as a long-term strategic base for innovation and growth, and contribute directly to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to build a competitive, diversified, and export-oriented economy.”

On the occasion of this event, Lenovo also hosted a high-level visit to its manufacturing facility in Riyadh, during which it welcomed His Excellency the Minister of Investment, along with a number of ministerial-level officials from multiple government agencies, as well as a number of prominent CEOs from the private and public sectors, who were received by His Excellency Mr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation.

During the visit, the delegation met with 28 newly graduated Saudi engineers who recently returned from China after completing the Lenovo Saudi Smart Manufacturing Graduate Program, which was implemented in partnership with the Human Resources Development Fund, the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, and Al Alat Company. The graduates received their training at Lenovo’s global manufacturing facilities and have now returned to Riyadh, ready to apply their world-class expertise to become the next first generation of Saudi technical leaders at the Lenovo facility.

The regional headquarters is the main center for Lenovo’s strategic leadership and operations in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa region, and its opening reflects the consolidation of the company’s presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a strategic base for regional decision-making, innovation, and cooperation, thus enhancing the Kingdom’s growing position as a global center for business and technology.

The Riyadh regional headquarters also constitutes a fundamental pillar within the broader strategic cooperation between Lenovo and Alat, and integrates with Lenovo’s ongoing investments in the Kingdom, which include an advanced manufacturing facility with a production capacity of up to two million personal computers and smartphones, a research and development center, programs to enable competencies, and a customer experience center. Together, these initiatives reflect Lenovo’s ongoing commitment to supporting the creation of thousands of local jobs, enabling knowledge transfer, and creating long-term economic value in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The headquarters is located in Al Majdul Tower, one of the most prominent commercial landmarks in Riyadh, in the heart of the Kingdom’s growing innovation and business district. The tower hosts a number of government agencies, investment institutions, and leading international companies, reflecting its role as a major hub for strategic investments and regional operations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
