Dr. Ayman Bahaa El-Din, Deputy Minister of Education for Technical Education Affairs, revealed that the technical and technological education system is witnessing development aimed at granting greater flexibility to students, allowing for the possibility of only one academic year in some professions and specializations, according to the nature of the skills required in the labor market.
Bahaa El-Din pointed out, during exclusive statements to Cairo 24, that some specializations of a purely practical nature, such as the fields of spinning, weaving, sewing, printing, packaging, and others, depend primarily on acquiring applied skills for which the student can be qualified within a relatively short period, without the need for long years of study.
The Deputy Minister of Education added that the new system allows the student to enroll in one or more academic years according to his choice and needs, provided that after completing this stage he obtains a certificate that qualifies him directly to enter the labor market, with the possibility of returning later to complete higher educational levels or enroll in advanced tracks in technical or technological education.
Developing the technical and technological education system
Dr. Ayman Bahaa El-Din emphasized that this approach is based on the idea of education based on skills and competencies, where the student can gain his experiences inside school or through practical training in factories, companies, hotels and farms, in partnership with the industry sector.
He explained that the new system gives flexibility in the transition between learning and work, as the student can work after a short educational stage, then return to complete his studies at a later time, with the possibility of counting practical experiences within his educational path.
He stressed that the primary goal of development is to graduate qualified cadres for the labor market faster and more efficiently, while providing multiple paths for continuous learning to reach the highest academic degrees in technical and technological education, including technological universities and advanced studies.
