Alaa Farouk received a minister Agriculture And Land Reclamation, Dr. Magdy Hassan, Head of the General Veterinarians Syndicate, and his accompanying delegation, in an expanded meeting that discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation between the Ministry and the Syndicate, and discussed a number of vital files affecting the veterinary sector and public health, in the presence of Engineer Mustafa Al-Sayyad, Deputy Minister of Agriculture.
The meeting reviewed the mechanisms for developing the union’s resources to enable it to provide better services to its members, by studying many files to exploit livestock and poultry production projects in cooperation with local government units, which contributes to maximizing the union’s resources and supporting the services provided to veterinarians.
The Minister stressed the provision of all aspects of technical and logistical support to the union as the primary partner in implementing the state’s strategies for the advancement of livestock, pointing to the importance of continuing permanent and continuous coordination through joint committees between the union and the General Authority for Veterinary Services, to follow up on professional issues and develop veterinary performance.

The meeting witnessed a detailed discussion of the issue of combating the phenomenon of street dogs, where the Minister stressed the necessity of cooperation between the Ministry, the Syndicate, the General Authority for Veterinary Services, and the concerned authorities to adopt scientific and humane solutions that ensure reducing the risks of this phenomenon to citizens, while adhering to international animal health standards.
In a related context, Farouk stressed that the veterinarian represents the basic pillar of the food security system, and that he is not only responsible for protecting livestock, but rather is the first line of defense for human health through controlling foods of animal origin and combating common diseases.
The Minister added that the Ministry places the file of training and raising the efficiency of veterinarians at its top priority, stressing that the next stage will witness more empowerment of veterinary cadres in the Ministry’s various work sectors.
For his part, Dr. Magdy Hassan expressed his appreciation for the Ministry’s quick response to the union’s demands, stressing that veterinarians are loyal soldiers in the battle for development and construction that Egypt is currently witnessing.
The head of the Veterinarians Syndicate praised the great efforts made by the Ministry of Agriculture in controlling foot-and-mouth disease, and the positive results achieved with impressive and unprecedented performance, effective coordination between the various concerned parties, and the pivotal role of veterinarians in protecting livestock.
