Cairo University Council, headed by Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadiq, President of the University, approved the nominations of the University Awards Council for the State Awards for the year 2025, whether granted by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology or the Supreme Council of Culture, of all types, which include achievement and merit in the fields of science, advanced technological sciences, arts, literature, and social sciences, as well as the Pioneer Awards and the Women’s Merit Award, and the number of nominees reached 25 candidates for the various awards.
In the awards of the Supreme Council of Culture, and in the Nile Award for Egyptian Creators, the Cairo University Council approved the nomination of the artist Farouk Abdel Aziz Hosni, the former Minister of Culture, for the award in the field of arts, Dr. Abdullah Abdel Fattah Al-Tatawi, professor at the Faculty of Arts, for the award in the field of literature, and Dr. Abdel Sattar Abdel Haq Al-Halouji, professor at the Faculty of Arts, for the award in the field of social sciences.
Cairo University Council approves the nomination of 25 academics and public figures for the 2025 State Awards
In the Nile Award for Arab Innovators, the University Council approved the nomination of the writer and poet Khalifa Al-Waqyan in the field of literature.
In the appreciation awards, the Council approved the nominations of the theater director and artist Mohamed Mahmoud Mohamed Sobhi in the field of arts, Dr. Gamal Abdel Samie Mustafa Al-Shazly, professor at the College of Arts, in the field of arts, and Dr. Laila Mohamed Abdel Majeed Ibrahim, professor at the College of Media, in the field of media.
In the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology Awards and the Nile Prize, the Cairo University Council approved the nomination of: Dr. Essam Abdel Hamid Abdel Sattar Mostafa, Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, for the award in the field of science, and Dr. Reham Rashad Muhammad Ali, Professor at the Faculty of Science, for the award in the field of advanced technological sciences.
As for the State Appreciation Awards in Science, the University Council approved the nominations of: Dr. Tariq Abdel Mawjoud Abdel Muttalib Musa, Professor at the College of Science in the field of Basic Sciences, Dr. Ahmed Kamel Ahmed Hegazy, Professor at the College of Science in the field of Agricultural Sciences, Dr. Siham Salah El-Din Ahmed Al-Hawari, Professor at the College of Pharmacy in the field of Medical Sciences, and Dr. Iman Salah El-Din Othman Al-Mahlawi, Professor at the College of Engineering in the field of Engineering Sciences.
As for the State Appreciation Awards in Advanced Technological Sciences, the University Council approved the nominations of: Dr. Ahmed Jalal Helmy Abdo, Professor at the College of Sciences in the field of basic sciences, Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Mustafa Abu Al-Enein, Professor at the College of Agriculture in the field of Agricultural Sciences, Dr. Fouad Abdel Moneim Abdullah, Professor at the College of Medicine in the field of Medical Sciences, and Dr. Saeed Rizq Grace Daoud, Professor at the College of Engineering in the field of Engineering Sciences.
In the Pioneer Awards, the University Council approved the nominations of: Dr. Khadija Muhammad Jaafar, professor at the College of Science in the field of basic sciences, Dr. Sobhi Muhammad Mohsen Ali, professor at the College of Agriculture in the field of agricultural sciences, Dr. Madiha Mahmoud Khattab, professor at the College of Medicine in the field of medical sciences, and Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Othman Darwish, professor at the College of Engineering in the field of engineering sciences.
In the Women’s Appreciation Award, the University Council approved the nominations of: Dr. Fatima Samir Ali Tolba, professor at the College of Agriculture in the field of agriculture and food sciences, Dr. Sahar Mahmoud Abdel Khaleq Mansour, professor at the College of Medicine in the field of health and pharmaceutical sciences, Dr. Randa Muhammad Ahmed Abdel Karim, professor at the College of Engineering in the field of water, energy, and environmental sciences, and Dr. Hala Helmy Al-Saeed Younis, professor at the College of Economics and Political Sciences in the field of social sciences.
Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadiq, President of Cairo University, confirmed that the Awards Council at Cairo University is committed to close and strict standards and controls in selecting candidates for state awards, pointing out that the university has a rich reserve of academic figures worthy of nomination. However, adherence to the regulations of state awards requires only one candidate for each award, following a precise and objective comparison.
The President of Cairo University added that the meeting of the University Awards Council reviewed the scientific and practical biography of the university faculties’ candidates for state awards in light of the criteria approved by the university’s Awards Council, and the candidate’s contributions at various levels locally, regionally and internationally, as well as the controls and nomination conditions approved by the Academy of Scientific Research for Science and Technology and the Supreme Council of Culture to obtain their awards.
