Over the past few hours, a wave of controversy has escalated over a rare Mercedes car offered for sale in Menoufia Governorate, after news was circulated about its attribution to Sheikh Muhammad Metwally Al-Shaarawi, which sparked the interest of citizens and social media users, and opened the door to speculation about the veracity of these allegations.

In exclusive statements to Cairo 24, the daughter of the car owner clearly revealed the ownership details, confirming that the car has no connection to Sheikh Al-Shaarawi as was rumored, and that the story is completely different from what was circulated.

She explained that only three people were punished for owning the car, the first of whom was Abdel Rahim Muhammad Metwally Al-Shaarawi, the son of Sheikh Muhammad Metwally Al-Shaarawi, and then moved to one of the sheikh’s neighbors, before her father bought it legally in 2024.

She added that her father had owned the car since 2024, and he recently offered it for sale in a car showroom belonging to his acquaintances, without any previous disputes or problems, and that the main goal of the offer was only for sale, without any other intentions.

She pointed out that the family was surprised to be informed by those in charge of the exhibition that the car had been sold for 520 thousand pounds, an amount disproportionate to its true value, before the car disappeared from the exhibition, which raised doubts about its fate.

She explained that her father did not leave the matter without an explanation, so he wrote an official report in Menoufia Governorate and took the necessary legal measures until he was able to recover the car and retrieve it from the showroom.

She confirmed that the car is one of the rare models in Egypt, as there are only 10 of them, which explains its high value and the fact that the family received several offers to buy it during the recent period.

She concluded her statements by saying that the family refuses to circulate rumours, and confirms that the car is legally owned by her father, and that any disappearance or unofficial sale that occurred will be dealt with through the competent authorities.
