A meeting of the Senate Agriculture and Irrigation Committee, headed by Representative Mohsen Al-Batran, began a short while ago, to discuss the crisis of raising the value of lands leased from the Egyptian Endowments Authority, in the presence of government representatives.
It is noteworthy that Dr. Osama Raslan, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Endowments, previously announced the reasons for increasing the rental value contracts for the Authority’s lands, which aim to maximize assets and support farmers.
He pointed out that the Minister of Endowments issued a decision to deal compassionately with the owners of fragmented properties, from one karat to 3 acres, stressing that the ministry provided a large amount of investment to farmers during the recent period.
He stressed that the spaces were divided into 4 types according to the area and features available in each section, with relative advantages for the tenant of endowment lands being less than the prevailing market values.
The Senate Agriculture, Irrigation, Water Resources and Irrigation Committee is concerned with agrarian reform and land reclamation, agricultural cooperative societies and agricultural credit, protecting agricultural land, developing agricultural food products, and encouraging the industries that are based on them.
