During the second session of the trial of the accused of ending the life of his colleague in the case known in the media as the chainsaw crime in Ismailia, the victim’s lawyer revealed the details of the report issued by the Forensic Medicine Authority after the medical examination was conducted on the accused.

Forensic report: The accused is in full mental capacity

The defense of the young man who was victimized by his schoolmate added that forensic medicine attached a report after the medical examination of the accused, which proved that the mental faculties of the person accused of committing the crime were sound and that he did not suffer from any mental illnesses.

In its previous session, the court decided to postpone the trial until today, December 2, due to the inability of the accused to attend the court headquarters.

Cairo 24 obtained the defense memorandum that the accused’s lawyer is preparing to present before the court during today’s session, in which he requested that the accused be brought before the Forensic Psychiatric Department. To evaluate his psychological and mental condition, based on what he described as “abnormal actions” that appeared on the accused and indicated – according to the memorandum – that he was suffering from a psychological disorder.

The details of the incident go back to the accused committing a heinous murder inside one of the apartments, followed by using an electric saw to dismember the victim’s body, before he admitted in the investigations that what he did was under the influence of dramatic scenes of violence that he tried to “imitate,” as he said.

Today, the court is expected to hear the defense’s plea and the prosecution’s response, before making a decision regarding the request to examine the accused’s psychological state, in preparation for completing trial procedures in the case that sparked widespread controversy in the governorate.
