Mr. Al-Badawi, Chairman, said Wafd PartyThe party has begun serious action to pay off its accumulated debts, in parallel with the restructuring of the party’s headquarters at the republic level, as part of early preparations for running in the upcoming local elections.

Al-Badawi explained, in statements to Cairo 24, that all closed headquarters will be opened, stressing that it is not possible to run in local elections without having an effective headquarters in every administrative center or department.

Al-Badawi resolved the controversy surrounding the fate of the party’s headquarters, stressing that neither he nor anyone else, including former presidents, has any legal right to sell the Wafd Party’s headquarters, describing what was said in this regard as “false rumours.”

He added: “A rumor was previously launched during my second presidency of the party that I would sell the party’s ladder and railings. These allegations are baseless and fall within attempts at distortion.”

Al-Badawi stressed that preserving the delegation’s headquarters is to preserve the party’s history and political role, stressing that the next stage requires a strong organization and a real party structure on the ground, not slogans.
