She passed away from our world on January 30, 2016, the Syrian girl known as FayrouzShe dazzled the audience with her exceptional talent from an early age, which made her known among the media and art circles as the child prodigy.

Fayrouz was born into a family environment that supported the arts, where since her childhood she showed a rare ability to sing and present theatrical and acting performances, and her ability to influence her small and large audiences alike.

Her talent was discovered by the Egyptian comedian of Syrian origin, Elias Meddeb, one of her father’s friends, who noticed her ingenuity while responding to the music he played on the violin in his home evenings.

He composed a monologue for her to sing alone and took her to perform it at a home party, where it impressed the audience and achieved great success.

Fairouz participated in a number of television and radio programs that highlighted her musical and vocal skills. Her talent was not just a traditional performance, but was distinguished by her remarkable presence and the ability to express feelings in a unique way, which qualified her to be a source of admiration for everyone who watched and listened to her.

She also participated in a talent competition at the Auberge nightclub, where she caught attention. Film producer Anwar Wagdy chose her and signed a monopoly contract with her father that guaranteed the girl a thousand pounds for each film. Wagdy changed the letter “ba” in her name to “fa” so that her artistic name became Fairouz, and he hired a dance coach, Isaac Dixon, to train her for several weeks in preparation for her first film starring.

She began her career with the film Yasmine 1950, when she was seven years old, then was followed by films such as Fayrouz Hanem 1951, and The Wedding Picture 1952, leading to her most famous film Dahab 1953, in which she performed show dances and various singing monologues, becoming one of the classics of Egyptian cinema and immortalizing her name in the history of Arab art.

Despite her young age, Fayrouz left an impact on the Syrian artistic community, as she had an impact in encouraging children to explore their talents, and raising the ceiling of ambition among young artists who followed her career with interest. She also received the support of a number of great artists and musicians who helped her develop her talent and direct her towards professional performance.
