The Directorate of Supply and Internal Trade in Dakahlia Governorate carried out expanded and sudden monitoring campaigns on bakeries, markets and fuel depots, which resulted in the arrest of 124 various supply violations within two days, within the framework of tightening control over subsidized goods and controlling market trading.
The campaigns came in implementation of the directives of Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, and the follow-up of Major General Tariq Marzouk, Governor of Dakahlia, and under the supervision of accountant Ali Hassan Abdel Fattah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Supply in the governorate, with the establishment of joint inspection committees in a number of centers and cities in the governorate.
The violations were concentrated in the bakery sector, where 109 violations were seized, including tampering with the weight of a loaf of bread, non-compliance with approved specifications, and the absence of health requirements and legal records, in addition to seizing quantities of subsidized local flour amounting to 1,518 shekels that had been collected and disposed of in violation of the law.
In the markets, the campaigns monitored 32 violations, during which food commodities were seized without invoices or data indicating their source, including large quantities of bulk and packaged edible oils with a total of approximately 392 kg/litre, in addition to seizing 200 liters of chlorine that did not comply with the requirements. The seized items were seized and the investigation authorities were notified.
The campaigns also resulted in the arrest of violations in the petroleum products sector, which included the collection of 2,140 liters of diesel for the purpose of illicit trade, and the control of the use of butane cylinders inside areas operating with natural gas, with the seizure of 5 filled cylinders with a capacity of 25 kg, until the issuance of a judicial decision.
The Directorate of Supply in Dakahlia confirmed the continuation of daily campaigns throughout the governorate, and that decisive legal measures would be taken against violators, ensuring market discipline, providing support to those who deserve it, and preserving the rights of citizens.
