Witnessed the Industry Committee meeting In the House of RepresentativesToday, Tuesday, headed by Representative Ahmed Bahaa Shalabi, the briefing request submitted by Representative Ahmed Nasser, a member of the House of Representatives, was discussed regarding the repeated announcement of new initiatives and strategies to develop the industrial sector, despite the fact that several official plans had been presented in recent years without providing a clear implementation evaluation of what was achieved on the ground.

Establishing a restructuring fund for troubled factories soon

For his part, Dr. Sabri Al-Shafi’i, Consultant of the General Administration of Planning at the Industrial Development Authority, confirmed that the establishment of a fund to finance and restructure troubled factories came in implementation of presidential directives, pointing to the completion of financial control procedures for establishing the fund, in preparation for its establishment soon.

Al-Shafi’i added that the fund will work according to clear mechanisms that include evaluating the applying companies, through an electronic platform that will be launched after the Council of Ministers approves the establishment, where companies’ applications will be received and field visits will be conducted to determine the extent of their restructuring potential.

Al-Shafi’i stressed that companies that prove their ability to recover with an expected success rate of up to 70% will receive financing, while cases that suffer from serious administrative imbalances that hinder restarting will be excluded, pointing out that the fund aims to address faltering factories resulting from bank debts, especially those ranging between 30 and 50 million pounds.

Al-Shafi’i explained that the fund’s contribution to companies will not exceed 49%, with participation rates determined according to the evaluation of each case, ensuring a balance between state support and maintaining management efficiency and operational sustainability.
