The meeting was witnessed by Major General Dr. Ismail Kamal, Governor Aswan, With His Eminence Bishop Bishoy, Bishop of the Diocese of Aswan and its dependencies, and his accompanying Coptic Orthodox delegation, coordination and preparation for the event and the anticipated historic visit of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of Mark to Aswan Governorate during the coming days, which is His Holiness’s first visit to Zahrat al-Janoub, in the presence of Engineer Amr Lashin, Deputy Governor.

During the meeting, Dr. Ismail Kamal, Governor of Aswan, stressed the importance of the organizational arrangements and comprehensive preparations to receive His Holiness the Pope in a way that befits his spiritual and national status, and reflects the depth of the historical relations that bring together the people of one nation, so that the visit emerges in an honorable manner that highlights the values ​​of love, peace, and coexistence that distinguish the Egyptian people, and which President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi always emphasizes in all religious and national occasions and forums.

He pointed out the governorate’s full keenness to provide all aspects of support and coordination with the concerned authorities to make this important visit a success, which represents a prominent national event that reflects the unity of ranks and the cohesion of the national fabric, and enhances Aswan’s role as a symbol of tolerance and brotherhood among all its people.

For his part, His Eminence Bishop Bishoy expressed his appreciation for the fruitful cooperation and the many facilities provided by the Governor of Aswan, praising the efforts made to ensure the success of the visit, especially since the visit of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II to Aswan carries lofty messages that reinforce the values ​​of peace and love, and supports the process of construction and development that the governorate is witnessing in various fields.
