According to a new leak, Apple is likely to launch its next two phones, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, with new and improved selfie cameras. Both phones are expected to debut in September, as is usual. Apple will release the iPhone 18 Pro later in the year as its most premium traditional smartphone. While current reports indicate that the phones are unlikely to receive any comprehensive design changes, a new leak hints that the phones may be on the verge of another upgrade to the selfie camera.
As Chinese leaker YLab shared, both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max may arrive equipped with new 24-megapixel selfie cameras. However, it is important to note that the source does not frame this as concrete information, but rather as a possibility. As such, we wouldn’t rely too much on this claim, especially since all iPhone 17 series phones already feature new 18-megapixel selfie cameras, upgraded from the 12-megapixel units found in their predecessors.
While the possibilities for a new selfie camera are still being determined, the iPhone 18 Pro phones will almost certainly arrive with smaller Dynamic Island apertures. That may be disappointing given previous reports of an under-display setup or even a hole-punch, but any potential design fixes in that regard will have to wait at least an additional year.
