Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, confirmed that the state is working to ensure the stability of the electrical supply during the coming period, stressing that there is no intention to impose a power outage during the summer of 2026.

Stability of electrical supply

The Minister of Electricity explained, in statements during his meeting with a number of journalists in the presence of Cairo 24, that the action plan implemented by the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy aims to enhance the efficiency of the national grid and provide the needs of increasing consumption during the summer months, ensuring the continuation of regular service for citizens.

Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, confirmed the completion of the installation of about 2.6 million code and prepaid meters since July 2024, within the framework of the state’s plan to develop the system for measuring electricity consumption, achieving justice in accounting, and reducing losses and infringements on the national grid.

Expanding the installation of code meters

The Minister explained, during a press conference held in the New Administrative Capital in the presence of Cairo 24, that the expansion of the installation of code and prepaid meters comes within the Ministry’s strategy for digital transformation and mechanization of services, which contributes to raising the efficiency of performance within distribution companies, and simplifying procedures for citizens.
