There is great interest among millions of citizens during the current period in knowing the fate of… ration cardsIn light of the repeated talk about developing and restructuring the support system, especially with regard to adding newborns or including family members, amid widespread questions about what is available and what has been temporarily or permanently suspended.
The Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade resolved the ongoing controversy, clarifying the official position on adding newborns, and the services currently available through digital platforms.
Has the door for adding newborns been opened?
Official sources at the Ministry of Supply confirmed that adding newborns to ration cards is not available at the present time, and there are no official decisions to open the addition during the current period, indicating that what is being circulated on social media sites in this regard is inaccurate.
The Ministry explained that the current focus is on purifying the databases and ensuring that support reaches those who actually deserve it, before expanding to add new categories.
A service available instead of adding newborns
Although it is not available to add newborns, the Ministry of Supply has provided the service of adding family members to ration cards, in a fully electronic form via the Digital Egypt platform, as part of the state’s plan for digital transformation and reducing the burden on supply offices.
This service aims to include those who actually deserve support, according to clear controls that prevent double disbursement and achieve social justice.
