The Sony Xperia 1 VIII phone appeared in the FCC database, after the spread of previous design images that revealed a redesigned camera unit. This listing comes early compared to the appearance of the previous generation during the past year.

The phone has model number PY7-30515Z, which is believed to be the Xperia 1 VIII. Although the list does not include images of the device, it confirms a number of important specifications, including the continued presence of a 3.5 mm headphone port, in addition to support for wireless charging.

The data also confirms the phone’s support for Wi-Fi 7, which is the same standard used in the previous generation. The phone also offers support for the same 5G bands found in the Xperia 1 VII, including N5, N41, N66 and N77.

Other leaks indicate that the Xperia 1 VIII will get an updated camera system that includes three 48-megapixel sensors. The main sensor is expected to come in a larger size, along with a new telephoto camera with a size ranging between 1/3 inch and 1/2 inch, while the ultra-wide camera remains unchanged compared to the previous generation.

The phone is also likely to operate with the leading Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, which strengthens its position within the category of upcoming flagship phones from Sony.
