Xiaomi is preparing to launch a group of new devices in China, led by the new mini tablet Redmi K Pad 2, which represents a strong competitor to the iPad Mini. Xiaomi officially announced that the full unveiling of this device will take place on the twenty-first of April 2026, during the same event that will witness the launch of the K90 Max phone and the Redmi Book Pro 2026 series of computers powered by Intel Panther Lake processors. This version comes as a successor to the previous generation of compact tablet computers, offering pioneering specifications within a small and practical design that is easy to carry and use in various places.
Xiaomi previously confirmed that the new tablet will be based on the powerful Dimensity 9500 processor, which represents the current generation of leading MediaTek processors. In addition to this super processor, the device will draw its power from a huge battery with a capacity of 9100 mAh, which is considered very large compared to the size of a tablet computer. It will also be equipped with an 8.8-inch screen, and although Xiaomi has not officially specified its type, the leaks indicate that it will be of the LCD type, which means that the screen may not witness a radical upgrade compared to the previous version.
However, the company confirmed that the screen will maintain the ultra-smooth refresh rate of 165 Hz, which is the same rate as in the last generation, to ensure an excellent browsing and gaming experience. The external design of the device has witnessed a welcome change, as it comes with an elegant and simple back that is very similar to the design of the iPad mini from Apple, which is available at a price of 474 US dollars. Xiaomi is expected to reveal more details and precise specifications of this pioneering tablet computer through its teasers before the official launch date expected next week.
