A new report, based on code within the Phone by Google application, revealed Samsung’s intention to add the Scam Detection feature to the Galaxy S26 series expected to be announced next month.
Until now, this feature has remained exclusive to the Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 phones, and works via the Gemini Nano artificial intelligence model on the device itself, and is only available in specific markets including Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
On the other hand, there is another version that relies on local machine learning techniques without Gemini, and supports the Pixel 6, Pixel 7, and Pixel 8 phones.
The in-app code showed direct references to the Galaxy S26 model numbers in the calling app, where SM-S942 refers to the Galaxy S26, SM-S947 refers to the Galaxy S26+, and SM-S948 refers to the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The code name for the feature “sharpie” also appeared in the last lines of the code, which enhances the possibility of its arrival in upcoming Samsung devices.

However, it remains questionable, especially since Samsung phones do not rely on Google’s calling app by default. Even if it is installed from the Play Store, it remains unclear whether it will have the necessary permissions to operate system-level AI features.
On the other hand, an alternative hypothesis emerges indicating the possibility of Samsung moving to officially adopt the Phone by Google application with the One UI 8.5 update, which is expected to debut with the Galaxy S26 series. Until official confirmation is made, this scenario remains just speculation awaiting resolution.
