Xiaomi is now offering important camera updates for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The new update based on the Android 16 system, which comes as the device prepares for global launch, offers various improvements and new features, and even a feature that was previously exclusive to the special edition “Leica Edition.”
Xiaomi is about to launch the Xiaomi 17 Ultra phone globally. Until recently, the device was only expected to arrive alongside the Xiaomi 17. However, Xiaomi has now clarified that the Leica Edition will launch globally on February 28, albeit under a different name.
The company has not forgotten its Chinese fans yet. In fact, Xiaomi decided to bring a feature to the Xiaomi 17 Ultra phone that was previously available exclusively in the Leica version. As the screenshot below shows, the February 2026 update for the former contains more than just a mandatory security patch. It also includes many improvements and new features, many of which focus on improving the camera experience.
On the one hand, HyperOS 3.0.15.0.WPACNXM introduces Leica Instant Mode with 1x tap zoom, a camera mode that was previously limited to the Leica version. On the other hand, the new update also improves Xiaomi’s dual-view mode, adds a standard watermark to the 200MP mode, and improves dynamic range when shooting with Dolby Vision technology enabled. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen whether these features will be launched with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra phone globally to compete with the new Galaxy S26 Ultra phone.
