Samsung, like any other manufacturer, continues to innovate and is constantly working on the next product. With the Galaxy S26 series, there have been minor improvements to the cameras, but a more significant upgrade may be on the way for the next generation.

The Galaxy S26 series has just been unveiled, and in line with previous leaks, it comes with only minor improvements to the camera hardware. Samsung has been focusing more on software in its flagship series once again, which may be a reason why some potential buyers are reluctant to purchase the Galaxy S26 phones. However, the next generation may be the one in which Samsung will make more significant improvements at the hardware level, or so it seems.

Speaking during a roundtable, Android Authority asked Samsung executives about the lack of focus on tangible camera improvements year over year. Executive Vice President Joshua Chu responded, “We are always constantly thinking about what will be the best combination at a certain time. So, in the future there will also be new combinations of hardware and software, so I ask you for your patience and attention.”

Although he did not confirm or mention the Galaxy S27 series, Chu confirmed that Samsung is still working on bringing major improvements to the camera. More than just fine-tuning the software, the company is still working on improving the hardware, at least for its flagship phones.

Does this mean that if you’re upgrading to the Galaxy S26 series, you’ll have to wait until next year? maybe. But there is no guarantee that the Galaxy S27 series will come with the mentioned upgrades. With this in mind, the Galaxy S26 Ultra actually improves the aperture for the main and telephoto cameras. Moreover, the privacy screen feature seems very powerful and important.
