Representative Mohamed Mujahid, Chairman of the Youth and Sports Committee in the House of Representatives, reviewed the proposed amendments to the draft law submitted by the government to amend some provisions of Law No. 3 of 1987 regarding the establishment and organization of the Sports Professions Syndicate, stressing that the project represents an important legislative step aimed at modernizing the legal framework for sports professions, controlling terminology, and reorganizing the union structure in line with modern changes in this vital sector, and ensuring a balance between the professional and academic aspects.
This came during the meeting of the Youth and Sports Committee in the House of Representatives, held today, devoted to discussing the draft law, and in conjunction with the offices of the Education and Scientific Research, and Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committees, as part of parliamentary coordination efforts to ensure that the legislation is produced in an integrated manner from the constitutional and technical aspects.
Mohamed Megahed stressed that the proposed amendments come in response to the rapid developments in the field of sports work in Egypt, and reflect the state’s keenness to regulate the practice of sports professions on clear scientific and professional foundations, in a way that achieves a balance between the freedom to practice the profession and the requirements of academic qualification, while preserving the independence of professional unions within a disciplined legal framework that guarantees the quality of performance and takes into account the latest developments in sports science and physical education.
The Chairman of the Committee indicated that the draft law also seeks to enhance cooperation between educational institutions and sports bodies, by involving the Ministry of Higher Education and the Supreme Council of Universities in determining the criteria for recognizing scientific and professional qualifications, ensuring their compatibility with academic standards, keeping pace with modern specializations in sports science, opening broader horizons for training and professional development, and enhancing the capabilities of practitioners in all sports specializations.
