The National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research announced that there is no truth to some of the news circulated by several news sites regarding any controversy or disagreement with His Eminence the Mufti of Egypt regarding the reconnaissance of the crescent of the holy month of Ramadan.
He continued in a statement that the institute is a specialized advisory body that provides His Eminence with astronomical information that helps in determining the legitimate sighting and crescent moon sighting, and that the absolute decision in this matter rests with His Eminence.
The Institute also stresses the necessity of not spamming the dialogues of its leaders in the media, in order to achieve high viewership rates, which may result in agitation of public opinion and harm the institutions of society.
